Quad, Buggy or Jeep? Choosing Your Hurghada Safari
Three ways to cross the desert, three very different feelings. Here is an honest comparison to help you pick the right Lotus Safari programme.
Quad bike — freedom
A quad (ATV) is a four-wheeled motorbike. You sit astride it, steer with handlebars and control speed with a thumb throttle. It is the most hands-on option and the most popular.
- Best for: adventurous adults and teens who want to drive themselves.
- Feels like: wind, dust and real control.
- Try it on: Quad 3 Hours (morning), Sunset Quad 3 Hours or the Quad 5 Hours with dinner & show.
Dune buggy — thrills with a seat belt
A buggy is a small two-seater car with a roll-cage and big tyres. It is low to the ground, surprisingly quick and very forgiving — a steering wheel and pedals, just like a car.
- Best for: couples, friends and anyone who prefers a car over a bike.
- Feels like: rally driving on sand.
- Try it on: the Fun Safari or Mega Safari, both of which combine about 30 minutes of quad with about 20 minutes of buggy.
4×4 jeep — sit back and enjoy
An experienced driver takes you deep into the desert in a sturdy four-wheel-drive. No driving, no licence, no effort — just the view.
- Best for: families with young children, older travellers and anyone with back or neck concerns.
- Feels like: a comfortable expedition.
- Try it on: the Jeep Safari with dinner & show.
